With the rising popularity of CBD oil for dogs, there’s a plethora of companies selling cannabis products. When people refer to CBD oil for dogs, they are referring to CBD hemp oil. Again, CBD oil derived from organic hemp has no more than 0.3% THC, so your dog won’t get high from it. CBD oil is often made from CBD extracts added to oils like hemp seed oil or MCT oil.

For example, in a 2017 study published in Pain, researchers gave rats an injection into one of their knee joints to model osteoarthritis. Rats then either received doses of CBD or saline directly into an artery in the knee joint. If you’re ingesting something that only has CBD in it and no THC, you won’t have significant effects in the brain. This is why CBD is often referred to as being “non-psychoactive,” although that’s clearly a bit of an oversimplification because hemp oil for cats it does do something to the central nervous system.

A clinical trial of Sativex, an oral spray containing both CBD and THC, demonstrated promising results in alleviating rheumatoid arthritis pain. Transdermal CBD gel applied in various doses reduced joint swelling and inflammation in a study of rats with arthritis—without any negative side effects. Another study of rats with osteoarthritis similarly found that local administration of CBD effectively blocked pain.

A 2017 study from the Netherlands evaluated the accuracy of the labels provided on 84 CBD-only products purchased online. The researchers detected THC in 18 of the products tested. Cross-contamination may be more likely for manufacturers preparing products that contain CBD only, THC only, or a combination of the two.

Unlike Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t result in the distinctive ‘high’ that most people associate with marijuana. For this reason, as well as its ability to provide natural relief from a whole host of pain and anxiety disorders, CBD is growing in popularity around the world. CBD or Cannabidiol is one of the better-known cannabinoids, or natural compounds that occur in the Cannabis Sativa plant. Once harvested, the CBD is extracted and mixed with an oil to result in the consistency you see in products today. CBD can be taken orally, applied to the skin, or inhaled.

CBD creams are most effective when used in conjunction with some of the best CBD oil tinctures. But, according to recent research, out of the 62 percent of people who use CBD to treat a medical condition, most use it to manage chronic pain, arthritis and joint pain. Even without studies showing that it works for arthritis, people with the condition are diving into the marketplace.
